JOE NICHOLS CURRENT SINGLE

Joe Nichols says "While I’m the first to bring out a fun, party atmosphere song, I have always loved a good ballad, and this one certainly falls into that category," says Joe. "Bill Anderson and Harley Allen wrote it, and one thing those guys know how to do is write a song that can tear your heart out. But they put a twist on it that instead of making you cry, gives you a little hope. It reminds you that love is strong and that it lasts, even beyond death."

AWFULLY BEAUTIFUL #1...

Harley Allen and Darryl Worley are living that "awful beautiful life" at the top of the charts this week with "Awful, Beautiful Life." The debut single from Worley's new self-titled album holds the #1 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks Chart as well as the #1 spot on R&R's Country Top 50 Chart.

Darryl says the tune came out of a writing session early last year with Harley Allen, who already had the chorus written. Darryl says he immediately identified with it.

"I thought, 'God that's me straight out, that's everything I'm about, the ups and downs, the dark and the light in the day-of-a-life-of....' So I said to him, 'We could write this like a day in my life, because I'm a real guy and my family, we're all nuts and you could spend a day with us and go through so many emotions you wouldn't know what to do when it's over, so that's how we wrote it, it's just real what real people do, and I think the backbone of this country are people that can relate to this," Darryl explains.

Another #1 For Harley Allen
The aching torch ballad “Tough Little Boys,” could be Gary Allan’s biggest hit yet.  He recently introduced “Tough Little Boys” into his live shows and was stunned by the instant response it evoked.

It’s a song that comes straight from the heart to his audience. “Kids can bring you to your knees no matter how tough you are,” says the veteran singer.

The Baby
Performed by: Blake Shelton
Written by: Harley Allen & Michael White

THE BABY GOES #1 APRIL 21, 2003 4 weeks at #1

Shelton's own story is taking a dramatic turn because of his latest single, a life-journey song called The Baby. It follows a mother/son relationship from beginning to end, and by being specific and universal, it makes the most of its heart-tugging sentiment.

It is, in short, pure country, and Shelton says he knew the minute he heard it that it needed to be recorded and released. There was never any debate inside the label, he reports. The song looked like a home run.
